Oh, What it is to be a Healthcare Clown!

For over twenty five years, I've performed as dr. mal adjusted, at Boston Children's and Hasbro Children's Hospitals. Our work is creating an impactful connection to patients, families and staff using our skills as performers.

Our tools are humor, play, magic, music, joy, and all around silliness, to empower patients to be the magical kiddos they are, and to collaborate with medical staff as part of the circle of care, so that everyone's experience in the hospital is lighter.

And it is all a very great privilege to do this work as a performer with the Laughter League.

I'm Mal. My pronouns are Mal or They/Them. I'm a queer nonbinary human, who performs, writes, acts, speaks out, and uses humor and play in my work as a healthcare clown. Humor, presence, social justice and kindness are my tools to build connection and awareness. As an activist, I use my art to collaborate in shaping a better world that celebrates all beings.
